Each week I will talk about a anime that isn't as popular as others and discuss its pros and cons. Hopefully this will liven up the board as you can respond and suggest anime you want reviewed.

This weeks anime is Haibane Renmei. It is a cute short anime, only 13 episodes long, with lots of meaning and plot to go around. The series starts with a clip of a girl falling through the air head first with a bird trying to save her by pulling on her dress, it is easily surmiseable that she can talk to the bird. Then the scene switches to a young woman with wings and halo smoking as she walks past a room and makes a discovery which leads to the main characters introduction. The first episodes are cute and silly but only hint and plot development and in fact I was almost planning to switch animes when I hit episode 6. that is when the plot hits and really takes your heart and mind on a roller coaster. The ground work they did in this series in building the characters and having them develope is what really makes this series good. You are able to relate to them and feel that little gasp in your throat when comething bad happens. I recommend watching this, takes about 2 days if you have a life and one if you don't, and telling me what you think.

I didn't like the ending.
But kor was all GAGAGA over this a few years back, so it's probably worth watching. The only other anime kor liked that much so far has been Tenga Toppa Gurren Laggan

Went through monster over the last week, that anime is some fine quality dope I must say. If I wasn't working now I probably could of finished it sooner, it's only 74 episodes long, but it's definately worth watching.
Left me trembling at several moments in what was probably awe.

So anyway, since Alyx doesn't want to talk about anime, I'll start doing it... or something.
Lately the only anime I've been watching is a fun little thing called Saki. I probably shouldn't be watching it, since it's 50% pure mahjong, and I have no idea how to play mahjong, but the random silliness manages to amuse me, and I care about fun a lot more than knowing wtf is going on. It's about a high school mahjong club in the near future. 5 girls 1 guy, but the guys a gopher and the two main heroines give off lesbian undertones, so it's not a harem anime. It's both reallistic in the sense of "This could technically happen" and completely off the wall crazy in the sense of "Tacos give me power" and Mahjong players tripping out and turning into magical girls in their imagination.
But still, I only like it cause I'm wierd.
Other series this season I gave a look at were Tayutama -Kiss on my Deity-, K- on, Pandora Hearts, and Asura Cryin'. Of these 4, K- ON and Pandora Hearts are probably the only two I'll finish watching anytime soon.

Psh, Why would I talk about something that's been around long enough for me to have started watching it like a year ago.

God Witchblade is so old, there's been like, 3 years since it came out.
I watched it because I used to watch the witchblade live action, an afte like 5 episodes I got sick of it and stopped watching, than ran out of stuff to watch like a year later and finished watching witchblade.

So lately I've been watching valkyria chronicles, enjoying it quite a bit.
Most recent thoughts were "So she's got a shield that can deflect tank rounds, she's just standing in the open, run her the fuck over You're a goddamn tank" But alas it wouldn't be so easy.

I just finished watching "When they cry."
The show interests me. It switches from happy go lucky school fun to murderous and insane horror. It's such an odd combination and shown in such a unique way, it captivates me, even though I'm not sure whether I like it or not.
The basic concept revolves around the same week, the same story, being told multiple times, but there is a significant twist to the plot each time. Familiar characters show up, similar references are made, and it's absolutely interesting.
The problem is, after watching the last two episodes, I do not understand what exactly is supposed to be going on anymore. I thought at first the show was an interesting way to tell multiple different stories by using already introduced elements. Then however there are suggestions that the stories are somehow connected in a way, but that only leaves you with a whole bunch of questions at the end.
Definitely not a show for the squemish, but very interesting, especially if you like horror suspence type things. I can't say whether I liked it, or disliked it, only that I watched it, and it's an awesome show to watch and see how your mind bubbles as it tries to disect what is happening.
Next up: finishing all of original dragonball (Just 30+ episodes left!)
