We've gone to runoff because no one got a majority of the vote in the first vote. So now it's down to just these three. If you want to vote for someone else, tough.
Vote for your 3rd Seat High Moderator! Yay democracy!
We've got it between the last incumbent (Firehawk) and two challengers (Starbird and White Inferno).

Hmm... What happens when a repeat like this comes up? Tie breaker showdown between white and starbird for second runoff? Although there's still time for the votes to change.

Hmm... What happens when a repeat like this comes up? Tie breaker showdown between white and starbird for second runoff? Although there's still time for the votes to change. You got it. If the votes are as they stand now when the polls close, Firehawk would automatically be in the second runoff and the Tiebreaker Quarter would decide who else would be. And by the "Tiebreaker Quarter" I mean the Supreme Moderation would appoint someone to roll a dice script in #thehideout with a range of 1-100 (1-50 for Starbird and 1-50 for White). White and Starbird would need to be present, and there would need to be at least three other Hideout members besides them and the dice roller present.

Crivs, were we actually that organized and that worried about a run-off result in the past that we actually made procedure of it?

Was it cavelcade who was insistent on using 1-100 instead of 1-2?
This is not exactly an ancient procedure, we set these protocols up last election I think.

Crivs, were we actually that organized and that worried about a run-off result in the past that we actually made procedure of it? Well if by "we," you mean "me," yes. Alyx is correct that I was the one who suggested creating a procedure and came up with the original proposal. However, you were the one who insisted on the addition of the rule that a majority of the candidates must be present. The rule also originally was unclear on who would be the dice roller, and you suggested that the candidates agree on someone, but I proposed the Supreme Moderation appoint someone. Was it cavelcade who was insistent on using 1-100 instead of 1-2? No, that was Mutamu who was the picky statistician. Cavelcade was still opposed to the whole idea of democracy on the Hideout. This is not exactly an ancient procedure, we set these protocols up last election I think. A little further back than that. The amendment was adopted August 19, 2007 and thus took effect August 26, 2007, in time for the 2007 elections. Here's the links: hideoutng.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=archives&action=display&thread=1454hideoutng.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=archives&action=display&thread=1455The amendment's never actually been used yet, although it's been contemplated a few times (2007 2nd Seat High Moderator Election and 2007 3rd Seat High Moderator Election).

When multiple people made input to the final law, I think 'we' is a fair term.
And I was tempted to almost not vote to actually make use of this obscure rule.

Well, someone came in and made it so we won't have to go to another runoff. This election's over.

Well, someone came in and made it so we won't have to go to another runoff. This election's over. Yay! Dodged the bullet on that one at the last second again. Firehawk is elected with 60% of the vote as 3rd Seat High Moderator. All of the incumbents were re-elected. I guess we did something right!
