I got the demo for it, seems fun. Third person adventure/RTS. Of course, hard to control with keyboard and mouse (Keyboard=your character, mouse=minions) but It's usable, and pretty good in the demo. Working on getting one of those X-box 360 controllers... going to be a definite help since most of the new games for XP and Vista will be console ports. Bleh. Anyways, your an Evil Overlord (Wow, thats a shocker...) who has been brought back to life by his minions and is now looking to restore his tower and destroy the Seven Heroes. You tell your minions to go out with LMB, Return to the Overlord with RMB, and hold both L+R MBs to 'sweep' them where you want (manual way to get it, nice for going around say... water. All but blues (not in demo) die in it. Not you though. Anyways, very fun to just pound on the jester with an axe. On a side note, I got one of those 'e-toys' (not for PS2) from GameSpot (Like I'm going to sign up for code masters when I don't need to?) and I am currently enjoying throwing him around. Thoughts? Here is official site: www.codemasters.com/overlord/IMPORTANT! READ THIS:YOU MUST PATCH THE DEMO BEFORE YOU TRY TO UNINSTALL Don't know what'll happen if you don't, but I know it A: won't work and/or B: Will cause immediate computer splody.

It's fun on the 360. I hear there are some polish issues towards the end, though.

I don't know, I don't actually have the game. Still, demo was good except for how short it is. I love the smell of burning halflings in the morning. Off topic a bit, X-box 360 controllers are good. Plug em in, if the game detects em, BAM, instantly changes to the X-box 360 control scheme, little icons and all I believe. Just like playing on a 360. Except maybe for system specs and other stuff. EDIT/ADD-ON: On the subject of multiplayer, it's 2 players only, with three different modes, slaughter, pillage, and co-op, and no, co-op is not going through the game with a friend. It's you and a friend vs waves of enemys. I recommend looking up Multiplayer in this article. I don't know the difference between that and PC multiplayer (it's not even MENTIONED in the PC review... console favoritism again. Bleh.) www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/overlord/news.html?page=1&sid=6169274

Well, I haven't downloaded this (don't trust my computer) but this looks like a great concept - playing the villain is a formula that has been tried now and then but definitely needs more exploration. I hope this is as fun as it sounds.
Also: "I'm one bad-ass freakin' overlord!"

Well, just so you know, they say that sometimes it feels like fighting the controls once you get into the later levels, but in the demo it's pretty good.
Also, it SEEMS that they decided to let you wait to see what some controls do. Guard Marker (while mentioned in the readme) is not in the game... oh well, but it would be nice to solo the troll.
Anyways, the only controls you really need for overlord are the WASD, E and Shift keys. Apparently, later on, you get to use Q (guard marker), 1-2-3-4-` (1 and ` are already in the demo, they let you switch between all minions and browns. Thing is, all your minions ARE browns. So `=all, 1=brown, 2=red, 3=green (i think) 4=blue (i think), and the Left Control key for 'Manual mode'. More at end of post
You also get to forge armor and sacrifice minions to give it magic properties... that's evil, but cool.
Just so you know, it IS a T rated game, so there is a limit to how evil you can be. You can burn halflings in the fields, but you can't procede to cut their burned bodies into bite sized portions.
Also, you seem to have to play the schemer in some cases, doing GOOD things (freeing people from a work camp) to get people to send you food and gold. However, being evil gives you more dark powers (or something?)
Also, can someone explain WHAT THE HELL dark energy is, if they have the game? It says you'll learn more of it in time, but that's after the demo, and none of the reviews mention it (read 2 so far, trying IGN next.)
Also, if anyone can get details on PC multiplayer, it would be appreciated, same with 'Manual Mode', I don't know what it is.
EDIT: Kill me now... I'm looking at IGN, and it says the PC version of Overlord, a port from the X-box 360, GOT A BETTER SCORE THEN THE X-BOX 360 VERSION. (8.0 to 6.6, to be exact)
EDIT2: By the way, if anyone has a game cube, this game is similar to Pikmin according to 3 different reviews
EDIT3: Alright, the IGN reviewer is crazy... He says keyboard and mouse is better then controller. I don't know if he's right, but if it is, victory to PC.
