No. That title is not backwards. Not officially, anyway. Koei's giving the PS2 a final game, and it looks like they're gonna go all out. Some convoluted storyline brings the characters from both Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors together, and the result looks awesome. Few new mechanics, taking a team of three characters at a time that you can switch in and out, some revamped fights and movesets... And the fact that Oda Nobunaga and Lu Bu are now in the same place.

OK, I've had this game for a few days now.
Tons of stages... each story's got 8 normal stages plus 7 extras. I unlocked the last few characters last night, and finally got to see what all the goddamn hype with Tadakatsu Honda was. I'm not too impressed with him compared to Lu Bu. >_>
I remember Crystallis saying Zhao Yun was his char... he rocks O.o
I'm going off on tangents
Anyway, it's pretty much taken the best from all the previous games and combined it into one really fun game. Lots of biiiiiiig swarms, I've even had 4 or 5 officers come at me at once.

Whoo for Zhao Yun!

Zhao Yun is pretty crappy for a spear user, Guan Yu and Zhang Liao easily trump him. He doesn't even compare to Zhang Fei and Lu Bu though. He's better than the worst spear users though. I don't have this game though I need to get it

Ma Chao got nerfed evil bastards. Horses aren't as good in terms of musou... plus his horse charge shockwave range was WAY reduced. grr. Bah, at least Zhou Tai actually did the impossible in this game. He got even more dangerous.

I hate DW5 zhou tai, I've never given his musou a chance, but I always get beat up when I use his other moves.
Granted I play on chaos difficulty.
And I was terrified when I kicked 4 officers asses in a fight I was trying to lose with a rank 15 Da Qiao before getting taken down in 4 swings.
I mean seriously, I was kicking their asses with fucking Da Qiao, maybe she doesn't suck, or maybe the fact she was doing minimum damage due to difficulty level made her shitty attack power not an issue.
I've never liked ma chao, I just dislike fighting from horseback period. They're less maneouverable and I hop around like a bouncy ball when I fight.

They went and nerfed musou attacks too... but every char's got an R1 move they can use (speed types have 2) Zhou Tai's 2 moves combo really well and clear out crowds fast... And as always, Nobunaga is godly. Currently, my primary team's been Zhou Tai, Nobunaga, and Xiahou Dun. 2 speed chars and a technique... screw power types, I suck with them XD Incidentally, speed types have an air dash and a cancel jump or whatever it is. Technique chars can replace a charge attack with R1 to do a beefed up version of said attack. And power types don't flinch. That's all I could figure out.

So the game mechanics are slightly different from dw games?
Also, you're not using lu bu with nobonaga?
Xaihou Dun, I used to suck with him I think I had him underlevelled, I'm kicking all kinds of ass with him now.
Also kick ass with Xaihou Yuan, GO MASSIVE ARROW FLURRY!

Eh, Nobunaga was one of the starting characters... hence, he was the first one I managed to max out in level (Zhou Tai not far behind.)
Right now I'm just working to get all the abilities learned, which means using characters I don't typically even like... (I am looking at you, Xu Zhu, you stupid fat piece of crap)
>_> Xiahou Dun's specials are beastly.

Sounds like they have a lot more moves than they did in dw5, and you have to learn them?
I actually did alright with Xu Zhu before I learned you could use even more moves by hitting the charge attack button after various amounts of normal attacks.
His jump charge was really nice, CANNON BALL.

Character movesets are basically the same as they were for the character in DW5 or SW2 (excepting Nobunaga, who gets his kickass SW1 moveset instead)
The R1 attacks help a lot, mostly for the speed characters that can spam the crap out of them.
And the character abilities... they act like the items normally do, you learn them by accomplishing a character-specific thing (most of the time to get their first one it's kill like 60 enemies or 3 officers). Once you unlock the ability you can use it just like the items.
Cavalier at level 10 (max) apparently gets you Red Hare and Matsukaze.

Well, one year later Koei is bringing over the sequel to the first Warriors Orochi. This one looks like it's going to put the first one to shame, with a total of 92 characters. If they've been in any Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors game, they're in, plus! There are some legendary people such as Sun Wukong, AKA The Monkey King... (How many anime chars are based off of that legend...)
So, I'm looking forward to this one. Sure, it's going to be pretty much the same kinda game, but that's what Koei does best, making people buy similar games... ah well.

OK, I've had the second game for a couple of days now (it was released on Tuesday, the 23rd, and I picked it up on Thursday).
It is awesome.
Not only does the game seem to flow better, there's a lot more added to the game for replay value. Add this to the 92 characters, half of which I haven't quite gotten unlocked yet, AND the fact that it's only a $30 game.
Sun Wukong is officially the fastest character ever, as he rides on the Nimbus cloud everywhere he goes. The voice acting is once again done incredibly well (save for a few glaring exceptions, I'm looking at you, Sun Jian.) And with the addition of five storylines (one for each of the Three Kingdoms, plus Samurai and the Orochi storyline), as well as "Dream Mode" which gives you a preset team and a level to play through, it's just a spectacularly done game.
Although Crystallis might not like the fact that Zhao Yun doesn't take a seriously active role in the early Shu plot. He's unlocked after the second stage, but he's much more of a minor character now that the Three Brothers are starter characters.
Wei's storyline was amazingly well done, and the moment after the seventh stage in which Cao Cao and Nobunaga join forces is just ridiculous and badass.
I'm also looking to try and unlock Fu Xi. His sword may rival Cloud's.
Anyway, I'm very pleased with how the game turned out and I kinda hope they manage to keep it going somehow, though the endings don't seem to leave much open for a sequel.
