Well, at least it'll make it so I'm somewhat even with vid on knowledge
Speaking of changes, does this mean in 4.0 edition, all 3.5 books are void?
Gives me time to learn stuff.

It's a substantial enough change that you can't really convert stuff quickly, so yes, 3.5 books would not be compatible with 4.0.
There's a "quick-play" adventure coming out in April to introduce people to it, then the PHB, DMG, and MM are all coming out in June.

Hmm... any plans on running one? I'd be willing to join in on it.

I'm considering it. I'm not quite as busy over the summer.
I'd like to see the final product first, but it's a definite possibility. I'm also thinking a group of us could try out the quick-start adventure as a test run.

plan to try it out, maybe I'll actually buy the books for this edition...unless the consensus is there'll be a 4.5 coming out soon afterwards to address sudden problems that crop up.

I dunno, has it REALLY been that long since 3rd edition? Frankly, I didn't see anything wrong with the 3rd Ed. (and by extension 3.5th Ed.) rules that warranted a whole new edition. They just want everyone to buy new books in my opinion. >.>

I really don't think this is an instance of raping people for money (though that is a common practice of publishers).
3rd Edition came out in 2000, and the slight modification that was 3.5 came out in 2003. That's an 8-year development cycle from one full edition to the next.
Now granted, while that IS faster than they've gone in the past, compared to the 10 or 11 years between 1st and 2nd Ed or 2nd and 3rd Ed, I really don't think it's that bad, either.
Further, while I agree that they don't necessarily NEED a new edition, I do like a lot of the changes being proposed for 4th Edition, and I do generally think that after a while in such a game it's good to start fresh.
As far as price is concerned, I'll probably use the Internets to acquire copies like I did with 3.5, so I'm not worried about that.

Meh, I'm more interested in the 40kRPG that's coming out next year. Mostly because they're probably kicking Cadderly's ass with this spellplague thing.
