A little under 2 hours later and... one of my better works.
Name: Vladimir Paisley
Sex: Male
Age: 31
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 135 Pounds
Hair Color: Grey
Eye Color: Green
Description: Before you stands a decrepit looking man, almost sickly looking, his skin is wrinkled and drained of flush, his hair is long and white, with a beard to match. He wears a dark powdered robe, and smells ever so faintly of decay. You would probably think him an old man, but his eyes display a measure of youth, the only clue to his true age, a fierce will and keen mind displayed for all to see.
History/Background: Born 1305, in London, England, Vladimir was the son of a merchant, sent to oxford to learn about mathematics, business, and politics, in the hope of succeeding his father.
While he was there, he discovered a secret room containing texts about the dark arts, and became hopelessly fascinated with them, particularly with necromancy. Vladimir quickly came to master the basic arts written in the texts left behind, coming to the conclusion that the later texts had been the results of a previous unnamed students own research into the dark arts, and used them as a building block to take the research even further, attempting to discover new secrets of his own.
Because of this, he gained a reputation as a strange man and made very few friends while he was attending the university. After returning home, his father soon fell ill, partly due to his age, and partly due to the corrupting aura Vladimir now possessed. However, although Vladimir had spent most of his free time studying the necromantic arts, he was his fathers son and had a good eye for business, taking over his fathers affairs until his father finally died in 1322. His father left him everything he had, but Vladimir had had enough with business and sold everything he could, engrossing himself in his research completely now.
Unfortunately, come 1326, his funding was starting to run low, and so he seized the opportunity to gain favor with the soon to be appointed reagent of England Roger de Mortimer, and cast a curse on king Edward the II, who had fled to wales after being chased out of England. The king was soon captured, having fled to Neath Abbey to try and seek shelter from the phantasmal ghosts and spirits conjured by Vladimir to hound him.
Now assured that Vladimir was legitimate, Roger de Mortimer gave him a room on his estates to stay and for research, and access to books held by the crown of england. He also made a lot of use of his abilities over the next 4 years, first using his curses to demoralize the troops still loyal to Edward II, allowing Vladimir to score a striking military victory over them, and claim the earl's lands for himself. Next, slowly draining the life essence from Edward II, a perfect murder with no traces left behind. The final action of any note performed by Vladimir was applying his curses to the now-dead king's brother, Edmund, Earl of Kent, giving him delusions that the former king was still alive, and spurring him to treasonous acts in his name.
This gave Vladimir an excuse to execute him in 1330. However, Vladimir had made a lot of enemies through his use of force to gain power over the previous 4 years, and he was quickly captured and executed by the king Edward III, for assuming royal authority. Vladimir gathered his possessions, as well as a few choice tomes from the royal library, and took everything he had to live in a small rural village, intent on continuing his research, not wanting to get himself involved in any more politics.
Over the next 5 years, the townsfolk mostly avoided him. Vladimir's dabbling in necromancy had given him a deathlike visage, and they truly feared him. Vladimir cared not for them anymore, devoting his research purely to something he'd discovered only recently, the process of becoming an immortal lich.
However, When he was close to completing his research, the villagers taking him to be a devil worshiper who consorted with demons, one of the more popular rumors about him, finally stirred to action and assaulted his home in a mob, setting fire to it and heading inside to capture him. Using his powers that had only grown over the past 10 years, he created a false body and threw it into the fire, wrapping himself in a cloak of shadows and fleeing his home, all of his research notes destroyed in the fire, and with only a single pouch of coins to his name.
He decided to seek a place in near total isolation to resume his research, chartering a ship to Menorca, an island belonging to spain with the last of his funds. However, the ship he was on never made it there...
